IDW is thrilled to announce the first of our judges for the 2020 National Breed Shows and our Feature Show.
The feature show at Australia's International Dairy Week 2020 will be The Ayrshire Show and in conjunction with Australian Ayrshires Ltd, we are thrilled to confirm the Judge will be Mr François Beaudry from Quebec, Canada.
Australia's National Ayrshire Show will be held on Tuesday 21st January from 8.00 am at Tatura Park, home to IDW. To coincide with the Show, we will also be welcoming delegates from the 2020 World Ayrshire Conference and are working hard to ensure a spectacular Ayrshire Show.
Married to Hélène Tremblay and father of four children, François Beaudry has always had a deep passion for the Ayrshire breed. Based in Quebec, Canada, he is the co-owner, with his wife, of the Des Prairies herd which has always thrived for great milk production and won many awards in that field throughout the years. Mr. Beaudry’s farm is also known around the world for the quality of the animals it produces with many all Canadians titles to its record. One of his greatest satisfactions is to sell individuals that bring success to their new owner such as Des Prairies Toutou which won 6 grand champion titles at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair of Toronto. The farm also sells embryos around the world and is always happy to welcome foreign visitors at its place. To crown these accomplishments, he has also won the master breeder title twice.
François is a member the Canadian Ayrshire Association and has served as chairman of the board of directors in 2015 and 2016. He was also the Canadian delegate on the World Ayrshire Federation for the past years.
In addition to the work on his farm and his involvement in the Ayrshire associations, Mr Beaudry is a member of the board of directors for the Estrie Richelieu Group, a farm mutual insurance company, in which he was the chairman for 15 years.
Mr Beaudry is also an experienced judge and as judged dairy shows in many countries including Canada, the United-States, Columbia, Finland, Sweden, South Africa, and New Zealand. Throughout his travels and his career, he has had the chance to meet many other passionate breeders and learn alongside them.
François Beaudry is deeply honoured to be judging the Australia’s National Ayrshire Show in January 2020 and would like to thank the selection committee to have nominated him. We look forward to welcoming François to Australia.

The “David Clark” arrived on 27 October 1839, bringing the first assisted immigrants direct to the Port Phillip District. All were Scots and several became important breeders of Ayrshire cattle: for instance, the McNabs of Oakbank.
To mark the 180th anniversary of this significant arrival, a reunion of descendants is planned for Sunday 27 October 2019 at “Gulf Station” (Yarra Glen, Vic) which was the farm of William Bell (another “David Clark” passenger and another breeder of Ayrshires). For information about the event, descendants are invited to email: davidclark1839@gmail.com.
