Star Brood Cow Award
To qualify for an award the cow must meet the following criteria:
- Cow and any progeny receiving points must be registered in the herd book or appendix registers of Australian Ayrshires.
- She must have 3 progeny classified Good Plus or better.
- One star to be awarded for each six (6) points gained by her progeny.
- Points to be allocated as follows:
- Classification
- Each Good Plus (GP) daughter earns 1 point
- Each Very Good (VG: 85-87) daughter earns 2 points in total
- Each Very Good (VG: 88-89) daughter earns 3 points in total
- Each Excellent (EX) daughter earns 4 points in total
- Production
- Each daughter lactation yielding the mature equivalent of 6 750 litres of milk and 450 Kg of Butterfat plus Protein earns 1 point. The following table provides the production levels at differing ages:

- Lifetime Production
- Each daughter with lifetime production of:
- 50 000 litres of milk and 3600 Kg butterfat + Protein earns 1 point
- 60 000 litres of milk and 4320 Kg of Butterfat + Protein earns 2 points
- 70 000 litres of milk and 5050 Kg of Butterfat + Protein earns 3 points
- Each daughter with lifetime production of:
- Daughter Achievements
- Each daughter achieving a star brood cow award earns 1 point for this award
- Each daughter named as “Photo Comp: All-Australian” shall receive 2 points
- Each daughter receiving “Photo Comp: Reserve All Australian” shall receive 1 point
- Son Achievements
- Each son achieving top 10% of BPI earns 1 point
- Each son achieving top 5% of BPI earns 2 points
ET progeny will need to earn points separately and an award of Star Brood Cow (ET) will be awarded to the cow separate to any award for natural progeny. Star Brood Cow (ET) will be awarded to the cow for each 10 points.
Production levels will need to be verified by Australian Ayrshires for these awards.
Deceased cows are eligible; however, they must be registered.
